ELECTROTHERAPY is the use of electric currents for therapeutic purposes. We use various types of currents, and the choice depends on their action and the effect we want to achieve. The following are used for therapeutic purposes:
- Galvanic
Electrophoresis (drug delivery)
TENS (transcutaneous neural stimulation)
Diadynamic (DD)
- Interferential (quadripolar and bipolar)
- SWT (Short Wave Diathermy)
Indications: Neuralgia, neuritis, peripheral lesions and paralysis (accelerates nerve nutrition and recovery), periarthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, enthesopathies (inflammation of soft tissues around joints), osteoarthritis, arthritis (painful knees, hips, joints, hands), cervical and lumbar syndrome, post-traumatic swelling and hematomas, distortions (soft tissue injuries).
