MAGNETOTHERAPY
Magnetotherapy
The application of low-frequency electromagnetic field in treatment.
Electromagnetic field acts on cellular level (upon its physical features, chemical and biological processes
in a cell) which gives rise to numerous therapeutic effects within the whole body:
- antiphlogistic (anti-inflammatory)- analgesic (reduced pain sensation)
- anti-edematous effect (reduced swelling)
- improved tissue oxygenation
- improved metabolism
- improved blood and lymph flow
- decreased blood viscosity and coagulability (affects endothelium of blood vessels)
- stimulated regeneration of tissue
- stimulated osteogenesis - regeneration of bone tissue
- decreased spastic muscle tone
- stimulated immunology system (improved body defense forces)
EMP advantages:
- accelerated bone healing after fractures - callus stimulation
- possible application during plaster immobilization
- possible application in the presence of metal in the tissue
- powerful anti-edematous effect (reduced swelling) and analgesic effect (decreased sensation of pain)
- improved IMMUNOLOGY STRENGTH OF THE BODY
- improved circulations and certain blood properties (decreased platelet aggregation)
Indications for application of EMP are as follows:
- pain in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar part of the spine
- slowly healing bone fractures
- traumas of joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles
- algodystrophic syndrome - Sudeck’s disease
- osteoporosis
- disorders of peripheral circulation
- trophic lesions due to disorders of arterial and venous circulation (varicose ulcers - Ulcus cruris)
